SunDrew presale a huge success, organizers shocked

Despite artist demands and aging lineup, initial ticket sales reported to be high

BERMUDA DUNES — To her genuine surprise, the organizer of the mildly anticipated SunDrew Festival reported high ticket sales after announcing the availability of presale tickets via text message late Saturday evening.

“We were concerned given the quality of the DJs we were able to book,” said Yassie Soltani, the event’s organizer, “but we tried everything before settling for this lineup. Trust me, we tried. We even looked at wedding DJs, everyone was booked solid.”

“Apparently both Brussels and Sandbar are closed the weekend of February 23 so here we are.”

Soltani was quick to shift blame the credit to her team.

“I do want to thank my team who worked tiredly and without inspiration for a few hours here and there to put this together. I could have done it without them.”

The presale was initially set to launch weeks ago but, as reported earlier by the SunDrew times, contract negotiations with superstar artist HANZ stalled the opening.

According to sources close to HANZ, she demanded that organizers provide a parking lot for her on site trailer and build a luxury cat condo to house her celebrity feline Marvin, among other demands.

“Honestly I’m not surprised,” said Tesser, the event’s headliner. “She’s easily the most talented DJ to enter the house music scene in years, but this is ridiculous. I know her tagline is HANZ House, but demanding that an actual house be built on site is just bad vibes.”

Although quick to comment, Tesser has also been the source of recent criticism for several demands of his own.

SunDrew organizers came under scrutiny when it was leaked that Tesser would not only be headlining, but also demanded that he be given three b2b slots so he could spin with his longtime friends, including HANZ.

Fans complained that much better DJs could have been chosen for the top spot.

“After some pillow talk one night I almost got him to agree to drop the b2b demands, but then he started talking about his podcast and I got tired and just gave in.” said Soltani. “Sorry everyone. You know what it’s like when he does that. It’s hard to not tune out.”

Given the unwarranted excitement around SunDrew, organizers encouraged fans to sign up as soon as possible.

“I put all of this on my credit card and I need to clear the balance before early-February,” said Soltani. “I wanted the points but I’m a financial advisor by day and carrying a balance is not a good look for me.”

HANZ did not respond to the SunDrew times’ request for comment.
